Hello,

Now when offseason has started (I’m going to get slowly mad) should we
Europeans organize something to tell Eurosport as a group that they should
really start to do something serious about their CART coverage ?

This year we got the worst coverace since i started watching CART in 97, and
Eurosport got some flak during the year (Long Beach, Rio, Chicage, Mid-Ohio)
The responce from E.S. was that they did what they could, but I don’t believe
so.

When you postpone a race to show the finals in sledgethrowing from the
athletics world championship, and everyone who watched it was just waiting for
Chicago something is very very wrong. About every other sport they cover gets
more attention than CART, well NASCAR get less, and the NASCAR coverage got
worse too this year.

A thing that puzzles me is that they do a great effort to show the GP500 races
and Superbike races. They show everything from friday practice to the race,
with lots of re-runs. Is motorbikeracing so much popular than CART ? I guess
so.

Two years ago I remeber watching the pre-season overview. Ben Edwards was
interviewing a lot of people during spring training, and I think that that
particular program got me interested in finding out what CART was about. Three
races later I was hooked. They also had pre-race programs and qualifying. No
we praise ourselves lucky just to get a race.

I don’t know how to start, but maybe to put up a website and have a petition
and a list of good, well-thought, constructive and positive arguments why we
love the sport would be a start.

Then we could start to try to give this information to someone high up in the
Eurosport leadership, both by e-mail and ordinary snailmail, since a
well-written letter is taken more serious. Mailbombing should not be done.

Let’s show Eurosport some enthusiasm and get their focus away from their
bitterness of not beeing able to show Formula 1 anymore.
