Were PP, PJ, and JB even PRESENT at Surfers?? I’ll admit I did miss
the first 2 minutes of the telecast and may have the missed the
opening ‘stand-up’ in front of their broadcast location. The telecast
had the same feel as the SV F1 races do with the 3 amigos broadcasting
stateside.
I also though it was odd that they had JB in the booth with the
regular two (tryout for SV next year?). SInce Gary Gerould was not at
the race in the pits (yea!!) why wouldn’t they have placed Beekhuis
there at least??
Can someone enlighten me on this? Thanks
Mike

As far as I know, they were not in Australia.

It had the feel of the announcers in a US studio. An Aussie did the victory
interview, no pit reporters and comments throughout about "from Surfer’s
Paradise." Plus, and this is just a feeling but a good one since I worked on
the Fox F1 broadcasts from LA, it felt the same.

No, they were not in Australia. They watched it on TV like almost everyone
else. But had a lot more fun than usual

Perhaps since ABC/ESPN doesn’t have the TV rights next season they figured
what’s the point in shipping them down there?
