NBC Coverage, horrible!

Well I guess it was a good race, I really couldn’t tell with a damn
commercials every 30 seconds!
What did we see, maybe 3 laps before each new commercial, disgusting! They
didn’t show that many commercials during the AFL game.
The boys at Champ Car better get their act together pretty quick. Otherwise
this is all for not!

Long time CART fan…………….

Semi-OT: Atlantic Spoiler — and a 'I wonder how desperate Tony is'..

** Long Beach ATLANTIC SPOILER below (not on TV until next week) **

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

While hardly anyone will argue that the level of competitiveness in this
year’s Toyota Atlantic series is the same high level as in previous years,
the Long Beach Toyota Atlantic race was won by Brit Katherine Legge, in her
first start in T-A. Yes, a female driver *winning* a race. Actually that was
the first-ever top-level North American open-wheel road race victory by a
female (FF1600 doesn’t count). YES, that was something Danica Patrick never
achieved. While Danica was a very-consistent top-10 finisher, she never
showed that she had what it takes to be a winner. In fact, she has never won
a series race outside of go-karts. The Long-Beach Celebrity/Pro race was her
only victory, but that is a 1-off event.

Anyhow, congrats to Ms. Legge. And congrats to Champ Car’s Kevin Kalkhoven
for giving her the opportunity for a test, and then putting her in a car in
the Atlantic Series.

Now, if you have been following Gomer conversations all winter and during
the first few IndyCar races this year, you will know that they have been
praising Danica and that the media is a sucker and jumped all over her. "She
was doing great until she crashed", "she did a fantastic job of driving her
own race & staying out of trouble"(5 laps back), and "she was running a
strong 3rd at St. Pete’s until she pitted" (as she was out-of-sequence, and
was in I think her rightful 17th place when she resumed). And then of
course, the perennial "she is doing very well – considering she is still
learning the cars" (but if she had real talent she would be able to adapt
quickly). Regardless, it is a fact that Danica has not yet performed well in
IndyCar, and with all the media pressure on her already, things can only get
more difficult for her as the season goes on and the (expected) results are
not there.

Now while today’s Atlantic race at Long Beach was just 1 race and we’ll have
to see how the season plays out, Katherine Legge surely has to be seen as a
threat to the Indy Car Series’ "claim" to finally have a "good" female
driver in their ranks. Can you imagine if Katherine starts tearing up
Atlantics this year and all the media attention falls on her as the
‘upcoming sensation in the Champ Car ladder system"??

Can you say "DANICA WHO??"

To a series that is in desperate times (0.4 rating for St. Pete’s,
non-existent crowds at their oval races, engine manufacturers pulling out,
long-time-loyalist & entrant AJ Foyt publicly bashing the series & being
pissed off at TG & the direction of IndyCar, along with the
longtime-loyalist IRL fans feeling the same thing now that they are
road-racing) — that would be yet *another* knife in their heart.

Anyone else think that we might suddenly see Danica *happening to win* one
of the next few IndyCar races??
I for one wouldn’t count against it.
