Now the EARLettes make claim that all the name drivers are in the Injury Racing
League….well I laughed so hard at the article on RPM website naming Dan
Weldon as one of Injury Racing League’s elite drivers….who is Dan Weldon? All
I know about him is that he flipped twice in EARL races last year..so according
to the Injury Racing League driver ratings if you flip more than once and
survive without any broken bones you are among the Injury Racing League’s ELITE
drivers….what a series King George has…that being the case only Dan Weldon
is the only elite driver in the series…BTW is he an American?

Until we all agree on what "works"… it won’t work. There are clearly
differing agendas among many of the people who post here.
Besides, some people still use rasi for discussions of any open-wheel
racing, as was its original function. They have consciously chosen not
to change, despite the later creation of rasc.

As mentioned in another post I made, perhaps one way to generate on-topic posts
during off weeks of the upcoming season would be to copy what Speed Channel is
doing with F1, namely go back 10 years and "rebroadcast" events from 1994.
Since it was my idea, I guess it’s up to me to give this a start and see if it
flies.
Anyway, I found a source for the event dates, but haven’t yet found a source
for event results other than race winners. Preferably, there would also be
some kind of description of happenings or commentary. If anybody has ideas for
the above, I’d be happy to compile some posts when the time comes around, then
we can see how the threads develop. So to start:

Almost official that the Champ Car World Series will stage a street course
event in Durban, South Africa later this year.
–
Duck (too bad about Dorricott Racing though)
"Let’s get out of court, get
cars on the track and go racing."
— Kevin Kalkhoven, co-owner OWRS
INDIANAPOLIS (February 5, 2004) – In a move that will promote strong racing
throughout every lap of a Champ Car World Series event and reward those drivers
and teams that run up front, series officials today announced a revised points
system that will go into effect with the 2004 season.
In the new system, points will be paid to the first 20 finishers with 31 points
going to the winner of the event. As has been the case since 1983, the winner
will receive four more points than the second-place finisher, with point totals
decreasing by two for each place down the order through the top 10. Beginning
with the 10th-place finisher, the point total will decrease by one.
“I think this is a good move for the series and will help the drivers a
lot,” said 2003 Champ Car World Series champion Paul Tracy. “If you’ve
had a day that would have left you out of the points, now you can still get
something out of it. It is going to be a very competitive series this year and
good finishes are going to be harder to come by so this makes what would have
been a bad day, not so bad a day.”
In addition, one point will be awarded to a driver for leading one or more laps
in a race, another point will be given to the driver that runs the fastest lap
of the race and one point will be awarded to the driver that improves the most
number of positions from their place on the starting grid. There will no longer
be a point given to the driver that leads the most laps in a race.
As has been the case for the last two seasons, one championship point will be
awarded to the leaders of the Friday and Saturday qualifying sessions on road
and street courses, while one point will be available for the qualifying leader
on oval courses.
“We firmly believe that this new system will be better for our fans,” said
Senior Vice-President of Operations John Lopes. “The point for leading a lap
will add an element of strategy and the point for fastest lap provides
incentive for every driver on every lap, regardless of position.”
All other rules regarding championship points will remain unchanged from 2003.
Under the new system, the maximum number of points that a driver could earn on
a road or street course weekend is 35. The breakdown of the points system is
detailed below.
1st – 31
2nd – 27
3rd – 25
4th – 23
5th – 21
6th – 19
7th – 17
8th – 15
9th – 13
10th – 11
11th – 10
12th – 9
13th – 8
14th – 7
15th – 6
16th – 5
17th – 4
18th – 3
19th – 2
20th – 1

Well EARLettes tens of thousands of Indy 500 tickets are again
available…usually the IMS Speedway announces well before the first of the
year of the 500 is a sell out but like last year plenty of seats are available
in all sections….IMS has announced that they waited long enough for their
ticket renewals to come in and have placed those seats up for sale….you can
purchase them by mail order, on their website, by telephone, on ebay
etc…..there was a time that only a handful were available and you had to call
for them…..the prospects of a sell out are history for a second year in a
row….not enough engines, not enough chassis, not enough teams wanting to run
the cars, downward spiral in TV ratings, less sponsorship money, fans staying
away
YES EARLettes your King George has a better idea but the problem is no one is
buying it or cares….even the judge saw right through your King George
Tony George the man that killed open wheeled racing in the United States all
because he wanted to be King
Here’s an interesting countdown for you.
Paul Gentilozzi stated yesterday that he would be announcing the OWRS
television package within the "next seven days."
(ref: www.autoracing1.com).
That gives him until next Thursday at the outside.
Let’s just see if he makes it, shall we?
So far not a single one of his "in the next few days" proclamations
has ever come to pass. Not one. EVER.
Anyone think he will make good on this one?
