IRL = ELEPHANT GRAVE YARD

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:10 pm

ONCE YOU HIT A CERTAIN AGE WHERE YOU’RE OVER THE HILL, YOU SHIP OFF TO THE IRL WHERE THE SKILL LEVEL IS DIMINISHED SUFFICIENTLY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE DRIVER RETIREES WHO STILL WANT TO IMAGINE THAT THEY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES.  ONCE THERE, THE OVER THE HILL DRIVER JUST FADES AWAY INTO OBSCURITY.

THE BIGGEST CONCERN WITH THE IRL THESE DAYS IS ALL THE DENTURES THAT GET SPREAD OUT ON THE TRACK DURING THE NUMEROUS SMASH UPS.

THANK GOD TONY GEORGE HAS COME UP WITH SOMETHING FOR THE GERIATRIC DRIVER TO OCCUPY THEIR TIME.

And on the subject of Cleveland attendance

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:51 pm

"Question of the Week:  With roughly 25,000 seats available at
Cleveland this year, how did CART manage to stuff the claimed 51,000
attendees into them?  And no, the general admission walk-arounds did
not equal the number of people in the grandstands.  By the way, if
you ever wanted to be the promoter of a CART race, now may be the
time.  We’re told that a call to IMG’s Bud Stanner could get you an
unbelievable friendly deal on their Cleveland contract, and maybe
even a little cash."

Good. Thanks, Herta. CART should really support this program.

Come on, Chris. Settle this suit, and benefit Herta, CART, young
drivers, and the fans.

Post news from a news source and what do you get?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:49 pm

Odd, isn’t it? You post news items regarding CART and/or the IRL from
a news source certainly as credible as Champweb, AR1, etc., without a
single line of personal opinion or comment and you are branded a troll
by some posters.

Some of these same posters regularly quote Champweb and various other
sources, but only it seems when the news material suits them or their
view of what they want the world to be. If the news item agrees with
their own viewpoint, its gospel. If it does not it is blasphemy and
trolling.

Again, please note that I did not post a SINGLE LINE of comment or
opinion of my own, and simply relayed the news items much as Mr.
Seppelin used to do with his verbatim AR1 re-posts. Now when Mr.
Zeppelin did it the practice was accepted wholeheartedly and since the
material came from AR1 it was often applauded as fact since AR1 was
supposed to have an "inside" track on all things CART. Obviously this
is not true since it is AR1 that said there are less than 25,000 seats
at Cleveland.

One poster mentions "anti-IRL trolls and anti-CART trolls" and yet he
regularly posts ONLY his opinions, yet he claims that someone who
posts a news item from a source equally as credible as AR!, Champweb,
etc. has "got a lot of nerve" and calls the source "garbage" simply
because he doesn’t like the content of the news. If anyone were to do
any sort of checking they would find that RaceFax has certainly been
what anyone would have to characterize as a pro-CART/anti-IRL source,
yet here in this instance it becomes a "garbage source." Strange?

Odder still is how some of these posters run willy-nilly squealing
like a schoolgirl about killfiling anyone who posts such news. Isn’t
this the worst kind of denial? If you don’t like the news, then just
don’t read it and maybe it will go away?

It is obviously quite true that Lausitzring is down the tubes, and
that the CART event there has been cancelled. RaceFax reports it and
yet it is a "garbage source." What of all the other sites with similar
reports? Cart.com? SpeedTV.com? Champweb? Are they all sudeenly
"garbage sources," too?

It is also not to hard to surmise that this place the Rockingham event
in jeopardy. Some on these newsgroups have even suggested as much.
RaceFax reports it and is suddenly a "garbage source," but not any
other news reporter or newsgroup poster who suggests the same?

Rumors have been flying around for months about TKG, KOOL, Andretti,
Barry Green, Motorola, and Kim Green, and posters here have speculated
loud and long about what may or may not happen there. RaceFax reports
on the same issues and is suddenly a "garbage source" but not the
posters or other news sources like RPM2Night?

AR1 states on their site that the seating capacity is less than 25,000
at Cleveland, as does Dave Reininger, and he uses AR1 as a confirming
source for his own research, yet is slammed as a troll. RaceFax
reports the same thing as AR1, but is suddenly a "garbage source" that
one pays "to be lied to" and isn’t worthy of comment or discussion?

Reading here for months I have seen some posters support Robin Miller
one minute while slamming him the next, all depending on his comments
and whether they agreed with the particular poster’s agenda. Same with
Brock Yates, and now it appears, with RaceFax. How can it be that a
journalist can be 100% credible at one moment but completely
unreliable and devoid of credibility the next, simply decided on
whether he appears to be supporting one series or the other at that
moment?
