IROC dumps Indy

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:22 pm

IROC has dumped racing at the Indy….they have realized that the Indy SPeedway
under King George is not the track that it used to be…..with IROC gone and F1
leaving at the end of their contract due to poor attendance how far can NASCAR
be? The only way that IMS can be saved is for the Humlan family to vote out
King George and the crapwagons…..then again the crapwagon 500 has fallen to
the 3rd event behind F1 and NASCAR

The EARLettes are in tears over this latest development

No great loss, but – Haberfeld leaving Conquest

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:22 pm

Not that it is any real great loss, mind you, but evidently Mario
Haberfeld is leaving Conquest Racing.

I guess he’s tired of not getting paid.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-HAAAAAAAAAAA-HAAAAAAAAAA!

Now don’t be shedding too many tears, CHUMPS – We know he was one of
your "name" drivers in 2003 – one of those "world’s finest" and all
that – but let’s face it, he can’t drive a nail.

Why does www.cart.com?

Why does www.cart.com still list Chris Pook a board member, president,
and CEO of CART? ( www.cart.com/About/Directors/cpook.asp )

He has been hustled out the door, and a new guy already put in his
place, but they don’t show it.

No wonder CART ran itself into the ground. It can’t even keep up with
who its own major players are!

Court Approves Procedures for CART Asset Sale posted on 01-03 20:22
LANSING, Mich. (Jan 3, 2004) – U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank J. Otte made
several definitive decisions Tuesday, Dec. 30, as he approved the procedure
submitted by CART, Inc. to sell its assets and accepted the Open Wheel
Racing Series, LLC ("Open Wheel") proposal to purchase said assets as a
"qualified bid." The proceeding was held in Indianapolis in the Birch Bayh
Federal Building and Courthouse. No other buyers have indicated an interest
in the CART assets to date.

The court also established a timeline to complete the proceedings. Any other
parties interested in submitting competing bids must do so no later than
Jan. 23, and the court will render a final decision with regard to the Open
Wheel proposal on Jan. 28.

"We’re very pleased and encouraged with the proceedings," said Attorney
James Moloy, who represented Open Wheel at the hearing. "The bankruptcy
judge quickly recognized the importance of an expedited sales process in
order to ensure the 2004 Champ Car World Series season.

"The court’s ruling was expected and approved the precise relief requested
by both CART and Open Wheel," added Moloy.

"We continue to have complete confidence in our work and vision for the
Champ Car World Series," explained Paul Gentilozzi, an Open Wheel partner
and owner of Rocketsports Racing. "As the closing of the transaction
progresses, Open Wheel will continue the planning process of the operational
details required to conduct the 2004 Champ Car World Series.

"Our stakeholders and fans continually tell us what a phenomenal product we
have in the Champ Car World Series," continued Gentilozzi. "We completely
agree, and we’re resolute in our intent to return the Series to its rightful
place in the international motorsports arena."

Kevin Kalkhoven, an Open Wheel partner and co-owner of PK Racing, welcomed
the decision.

"This is another important step toward ensuring the future of Champ Car," he
said. "We remain committed to our goal for an expedient resolution so that
our sponsors, teams, promoters, and fans can be assured of yet another
exciting season of Champ Car racing. It’s what they deserve and we intend to
deliver."

The 2004 Champ Car World Series racing season is slated to begin April 18
with its 22nd running of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Reigning Champ
Car Drivers’ Champion Paul Tracy will return to defend his 2003 Long Beach
win.

Speed TV confirms: No CART/OWRS for them!

Here are some interesting excerpts from a recent interview with SPEED
Channel President Jim Liberatore:

"Q: SPEED Channel rolled past the 60-million US household mark in
December. The network has been atop the growth charts for months,
having added 19 million households in the last two years. Are you
comfortable with SPEED’s numbers?

Liberatore: "I am comfortable because it’s the pace we had hoped for
and expected all along. We have aggressive expectations and we are
fulfilling them. You would expect that with the NASCAR deal and some
of the exclusive deals we have with other racing series, that we would
have that kind of growth.

"I realize that we are a niche network, but when we are compared to
other niche networks, it’s like apples and oranges. We have live,
first-run airings of the best of our genre, which other networks
don’t. So, we should be growing like this.

"Will we continue to be the fastest growing sports cable network —
no. When you start getting to 60 million homes and then to 65, it does
start to slow. Some of the networks that are just starting up will
obviously start to grow faster than SPEED. Going from zero to seven
million homes is a lot easier than going from 60 to 67 million."

(and)

"Q: Will all the racing series that were on SPEED Channel in 2003 be
back in 2004?

Liberatore: "CART will not. I do not want to announce anything until
they do, but CART will not be back on SPEED Channel. Trans-Am will not
be back on SPEED as far as we know today. As far as I know, that’s
it."

(and, perhpas the funniest thing in the entire interview)

"Q: Is SPEED Channel talking to any other racing series about coming
to the network?

Liberatore: "We are talking to the guys at IROC. Nothing is finalized
yet. There aren’t a lot of other series out there that are looking for
a home. The IRL and NHRA still have deals with ESPN."

(BWAAAAAA-HAAAAAAAAA-HAAAAAAAAA! Speed thinks IROC is more important
than CART or OWRS! Hilarious! Seems like he would like to have the IRL
and/or NHRA, too!)
